We sadly announce the passing of Michael E. Bergstein, a respected former member of the ACORD Board of Directors and leader within the insurance industry.
During his tenure on the ACORD Board, Michael was a strong advocate for industry collaboration and the effective use of standards and technology to improve how insurance operates. He brought a thoughtful, practical perspective to ACORD’s work, informed by decades of firsthand experience across the commercial insurance landscape.
Michael’s career spanned senior leadership roles in insurance and reinsurance, including executive positions at Erich Courant & Co., the Insurance Resource Brokerage Group, and Capacity Coverage Group. He also chaired ACORD’s Agency Advisory Committee and served with major industry associations such as AUGIE and the Agents Council for Technology (ACT). He was widely recognized for his commitment to supporting agents and improving automation and operational effectiveness across the industry, frequently lending his expertise to initiatives aimed at strengthening connectivity between insurers, distributors, and technology providers.
Above all, Michael was known for his professionalism, integrity, and willingness to contribute his time and insight in service of the broader industry. His contributions helped advance ACORD’s mission and left a meaningful mark on the organizations and people he worked with.
