Since 1997, the ACORD Awards have recognized companies that have embraced standards as a powerful solution that improves data communications and workflow efficiency, saves money for the entire industry, and expands trading partner opportunities.
The 2009 ACORD Awards focus on implementations that highlight business value, business opportunities, and trading partners. Implementations are defined as:
- Trading partner to trading partner (between insurance companies, distributors and/or reinsurers)
- Solution provider to customer (between solution provider and one customer - another vendor or a party who is primarily in the business)
- Internal systems to internal systems within a company
- Web Services and SOA

Awards cover accomplishments from June 2008 through April 2009. To be considered for a 2008 ACORD Award, you must submit an official ACORD Awards application by March 16, 2009. Outstanding Achievement Awards
Outstanding Achievement Awards recognize companies whose XML implementations of ACORD standards have had significant impact on their business. For each category, one company that is a full ACORD member from each standards domain (Life, Annuity & Health, Property & Casualty/Surety, and Reinsurance/Large Commercial) will be recognized. Categories for awards are:

- External Integration Business Value
